Take a Moment and Blow a Bubble With a Whale

Enjoy your life and blow a Bubble with a Whale.  Yes if you have not seen this video, sit back and blow a bubble with a whale.  This is the most amazing video of whales from Japan.  It has been circulating on Twitter for several months.

It is very relaxing and on a Sunday, we all need to take a breath and relax and think about our upcoming week. Blow some bubbles and release some stress.  Look at all of the fun these whales are having.

Finding What is Best For You

This wonderful piece was developed by Box of Crayons, entitled, Find Your Great Work.  Some of you will remember one of Box of Crayon pieces earlier this week.  This is another one and one to help you think about What is Best for You.

We sometimes get locked into things and think there isn’t a way out, but there is.  We just need to get unstuck and move in another direction.

When I was a girl, I was a  Brownie, Girl Scout. One year, we had a young woman who came to our Council in Oklahoma City and showed us a slide-show on International Thinking Day, Feb. 22. that contained slides  from “Our Chalet” WAGGGS World Centre in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts)

After watching those slides and listening to her stories about hiking the Alps, I made a vow to go to Switzerland someday when I was older.

I stayed in Girl Scouting and went through all the levels  Junior, Cadette and Senior, became a leader and even worked for them professionally for several years.

It is one of those items on my Bucket List. Yes, it has been there all my life, and now I must admit hiking is not one of those things I do anymore, but I would still like to visit this wonderful International Center. Even now as I look at these beautiful photos, I am reminded, to hurry up and do this.

As a Lifetime Member of Girl Scouting, it is one of the organizations that helped shape my life with skills in leadership, event planning,  and confidence just to name a few.   There are many skills, that I remember: working on a team, accomplishment of goals, budgeting and working on community needs.

Yes, there is still a need for Girl Scouting although it has changed over the years to bring  the many differences that young girls must face now in Society.

I urge everyone who has daughters to look into Girl Scouting for  its wonderful benefits.  Most of our women leaders in our society were Girl Scouts or Girl Guides and they will tell you that without Girl Scouting or Girl Guides they would not have had the foundation to develop fully into the wonderful functioning leaders they are today.

Resolutions & Bucket Lists Accomplish Yours! Want to Decorate a Rose Float?

Several years ago, many of us had never even heard of a bucket list until a certain movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson can along. You saw two men who were both terminally ill living each day and crossing off their lists of things they wanted to do before they died.  Are your Resolutions like your Bucket Lists?

Bucket Lists or wish lists can be on your Resolutions Lists or your 2011 Goals.  Now why would you want to put any of them there?  Because as you put them there, you visually create them in your mind.

One of my Bucket Lists was to help decorate a Rose Float in the Rose Parade.  The Parade happens every year on New Year’s Day and is seen all over the World.   Seems simple you say unless you grew up in the middle of the country in Oklahoma and only watched it on TV.

When I moved to Los Angeles over 8 years ago, the first day after Christmas and that week before New Year’s, I spent decorating the Burbank Rose Float.  It is one of only six self-built floats in the parade. That means it is built and designed by volunteers, not professionals like you see all the rest in the parade.

I made some wonderful new friends, so did my daughter and we discovered new talents we didn’t know we had.

I helped on the Burbank Float for several years, until my commitments with other volunteer activities took me other places.

Putting what you want to do in your life on your Resolutions list or your 2011 Goals List will help you reach closer to those goals.

For those of you who may have decorating a Rose Float on your Bucket List, many of the floats need volunteers  the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  But the self-built floats need help all year-long to build the frame, dry the flowers, separate the flowers, foam the frame, paint the frame etc.  It doesn’t all happen in one week.

Add those Bucket Lists to your Resolutions and your Goals Lists and print those lists where you can see them daily. Take steps daily to carry out your Bucket Lists.

Hike the Grand Canyon next Year? Write a Book? Anything is possible, but you need to plan and start the process now!
